“I always come away from DAA conferences having learned so very much and honored by the people around me”
DAA facilitates regular training events in Dorset for volunteers and professionals working with survivors of childhood abuse. The topics for these events are selected in response to identified local need. The facilitators are experienced professionals with considerable expertise in working with survivors of abuse and the people who help them.
DAA offers at least three events per annum. Recent topics have been:
‘Responding to Disclosures of Childhood Abuse’
‘Trauma, Dissociation and Self Care’
‘Helping Survivors towards Positive and Healthy Relationships’
‘Paedophiles – are they really human?‘
Some DAA training events may also include talks by survivors of abuse.
By highlighting the difficulties and challenges in this area of work and disseminating the vital knowledge and skills needed to support survivors effectively, our training events improve the abilities of professionals and volunteers working with survivors in the area. This enables them to support survivors more effectively and, thereby, improves the lives of the survivors they work with.
Given DAA’s ongoing responsibility to raise funds to maintain our services, we need to charge for our training events. However, it is our intention that DAA training events should be accessible to all who are interested. We extend an invitation to anyone who is interested in attending to contact us for more information on training concessions.
